Earlier this week, Baker Brothers Plumbing Air & Electric along with our expert, Bradley Hehn, was featured on WFAA Dallas on location in Rockwall TX. In the news story, Hehn explains some tips to save energy and lower our utility bills.
As Hehn explains, annual energy cost for a single family home in the U.S. is more than $2,000, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.
One of the reasons utility bills are so high is that 90 percent of U.S. homes are under-insulated. This means heat leaks out of your house in the winter and hot, muggy air seeps in during the summer. This leaking air can be partially prevented by adding insulation in attics.
“I did an insulation job on a home about a few years ago and his bill went from $600 to under $200 a month,” Hehn said. “It was a rather large house, too.” Hehn suggests that the best investment for energy savings is to add insulation to the attic.
